Achievable surface roughnessThe achievable surface roughness depends on themachining and on the material properties as well. Formechanical engineering technical parts, generally thesimply achievable surface roughness, is suitable. Thetighter achievable surface roughness, obtainable withspecial procedures and equipments, should be usedonly in exceptional cases. From a tribological pointof view, a metal sliding partner surface roughnessshould be smoother than a polymer´s one.
