Chapter 3 Provisioning the G<strong>QAM</strong>Function KeysThe following additional function keys appear in the Advanced Parameters window.KeySelectSet upFunctionOpens the File Selection Dialog window so that you canspecify the configuration file for the selected modulator.Refer to Underst<strong>and</strong>ing the File Selection Dialog Screen(on page 44) for more details.Opens the Multiple Digital Session Definition forG<strong>QAM</strong> window or the Stat Mux Dejitter Groups ForG<strong>QAM</strong> window, respectively.Underst<strong>and</strong>ing the File Selection Dialog ScreenThe File Selection Dialog Screen allows you to specify the configuration file for themodulator. To view the File Selection Dialog screen, click the Select button on theAdvanced Parameters tab on the DNCS GUI.Underst<strong>and</strong>ing the Bootp/Tftp ProcessWhen a modulator boots, it sends a bootp request to get an IP address. Thebootp/tftp process allows the G<strong>QAM</strong>, after power on or reset, to request <strong>and</strong> receiveconfiguration parameters, application downloads, <strong>and</strong> provisioning from thenetwork bootp server. The DNCS, which is a bootp server, uses a bootp reply toassign an IP address to the G<strong>QAM</strong>, provided the device is provisioned in the DNCSdatabase. The configuration file selected in the File Selection Dialog window isincluded in the bootp reply.The G<strong>QAM</strong> uses the information in the configuration file to determine whether it isrunning the correct version of application code. If it is not running the correctversion of application code, it requests the correct image file(s) from the DNCS.44 78-745431-01 Rev E
