Chapter 3 Provisioning the G<strong>QAM</strong>Provision G<strong>QAM</strong>s on the DNCSIntroductionIn order for the G<strong>QAM</strong> to operate properly as a network element within the DBDS,you must provision it on the DNCS. This section provides procedures forprovisioning a G<strong>QAM</strong> on the DNCS.Provisioning the <strong>Modulator</strong> on the DNCS1 Verify that you have provisioned the G<strong>QAM</strong> in accordance with your networkwiring diagram, along with the Technical Specifications (on page 109) <strong>and</strong> othernetwork devices.To provision the G<strong>QAM</strong> on the DNCS, the system administrator must do thefollowing.a Enter the IP <strong>and</strong> physical (MAC) addresses of the G<strong>QAM</strong>.b Assign a name to the G<strong>QAM</strong>.c Associate the G<strong>QAM</strong> with a headend.d Set the RF frequencies for each output port.e Associate ports to hubs.f Select a modulation type.g Select transport stream IDs.h Configure continuous wave mode.i Configure the Mute RF settings.j Define MPEG sources.k Add Service Groups, as needed.l Assign the GbE ports.Note: Refer to the Digital Network Control System Online Help for moreinformation about provisioning network elements.52 78-745431-01 Rev E
