Add a Service GroupAdd a Service GroupIntroductionIf you are going to provide VOD, xOD, or SDV services, you must add a servicegroup for each VOD, xOD, or SDV server in your network, along with the associatedGQAMs. A service group is a set of GQAM modulator channels that have beencombined to provide narrowcast services (VOD, xOD, or SDV) to a unique group ofDHCTs. Service groups enable DHCTs to distinguish which GQAM is providingwhich service. You can create the following types of service groups: Parent service groups: service groups which contain one or more child servicegroups Child service groups: service groups which belong to a parent service group Standalone service groups: service groups which are independent; they containno child service groups nor do they belong to a parent service groupNote: Allowing one service group to belong to another enables you to moreeffectively manage the different types of content that a server provides. Before You BeginBefore you begin, you must have your network map. If you cannot locate yournetwork map, contact Cisco Services. You must also know which GQAM will beproviding data for each VOD, xOD, or SDV service.Adding a Service Group1 From the DNCS Administrative Console, click the DNCS tab.78-745431-01 Rev E 57
