Freight calculationThe term consignment refers to goods included in transport instructions from oneor several consignors to one consignee at a certain location and made available fortransport on one occasion. A consignment may not exceed the weight/volume ofthe load capacity of the vehicle.To assess the weight-based freight, the following information must always be statedfor the full consignment in addition to the weight in full kg:– Volume in cubic metres. The value is stated to two decimal places followed by m 3 .– Flat metres. Must be stated for consignments that are difficult to pack and ontop of which other goods cannot be loaded. The value should be stated to onedecimal place followed by FLM.– Pallet space = non-stackable pallet. The value is stated followed by PP.In the case of goods that are difficult to stow, because of the nature of the object orthe packing means that they cannot be packed as normal groupage with other goods ormaximum use cannot be made of the load area, the freight is calculated in such a waythat consideration is given to the load area required by the goods (see weight per flatmetre table next to the heading Goods that are difficult to stow).The term flat metre refers to a metre on the platform with the full width and height ofthe load space.The term actual weight or gross weight refer to the weight of the consignment as registeredon the scales, including packing and loading accessories (e.g. pallets).The term bulk weight refers to the consignment volume (length x width x height)expressed in cubic metres to two decimal places, including packing and loadingaccessories (e.g. pallets) multiplied by the weight accordance with the table(see table under the heading Calculating bulky goods) or when calculating flat metre,the number of flat metres to one decimal place multiplied by the weight inaccordance with the table (Calculating flat metre for bulky goods).Freight calculationBulky goods:Freight calculated according to:Domestic: For a non-stackable pallet, the price iscalculated according to pallet space.International: For a stackable pallet with a height ofless than 1.5 m incl. the pallet, the price is calculatedaccording to volume. Freight prices are calculated per consignment andproduct selection. The size of the freight is based on weight or volume (which is convertedto weight), as well as on the distance between two rate points.DB SCHENKERcoldsped. The prices are based on weight, volume and distance.Freight prices are calculated according to a price list agreed upon betweenDB Schenker and the customer or in relation to a price list applied by DB Schenkerfor c-classified locations. As agreed, transport can be undertaken to other locationsc1, c2, c3 and c4 (see DB Schenker Location list). A distribution surcharge is payableon these occasions.DB SCHENKERparcel. Freight calculation for parcels is shown in the DB SCHENKERparcel/privpakbrochure – Prices and Conditions.Method of calculationThe following applies when calculating freight:Exceptions – International consignmentsThe prices are based on weight, volume and communications between different areas.Freight is calculated as price per consignment or per 100 kg, alternatively per full load.Specific conditions for domestic transportLocation categories. The locations are divided into two categories: primary locationsand secondary locations. Each secondary location is linked to a specific primary location,which is the rate point when calculating distance. Each primary location and therelated secondary locations make up a primary location area.Location list. The DB Schenker Location list shows, in alphabetical order, all theSwedish locations that can be used as address locations. Only one location name maybe used as a dispatching destination or receiving location. Location names other thanthe ones listed in the Location list may not be used as an address without separateagreement.DB SCHENKERsystem, -direct and -coldsped. The Location list states the countyand rate point for secondary locations.DistanceWhen calculating the freight only the distance between the primary locations (ratepoints) is used, see DB Schenker distance table. The distances are taken from theSwedish Transport Administration distance table. The distances for consignments toand from Gotland are calculated via Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn, whereby 150 kmis added to the distance between the primary locations. Using the position of theprimary locations as a starting point, Schenker always attempts to find the shortestroute when calculating the freight for Gotland consignments.Other informationNB: In the tables issued by DB Schenker, the distance between Gotland and Nynäshamn/Oskarshamn(150 km) is included in the stated distances between locationson the mainland and Gotland. Special rules apply to the transportation of dangerousgoods between the mainland and Gotland, see also 1.4.5.16
