<strong>MIL</strong>-<strong>HDBK</strong>-<strong>502</strong>: ACQUISITIONALOGISTICSThe Ordering Clause• Support the negotiation team <strong>and</strong> source selection team inevaluating the logistics impacts of contract changes proposedduring negotiation.• Serve as the logistics representative on the procurement requestdevelopment team.The ordering clause governs the ordering of supplies or services detailed inSection B. Specifically, this clause governs the acquisition of supplies orservices specified in provisioned CLINs in Section B. This clause is importantto the logistician because its terms determine how flexibly logistics supportCLINs can be activated.There are several variations on the basic FAR 52.216-18 "Ordering" clause. Asprescribed in 16.505(a), the following clause (Figure 8-4) is inserted insolicitations <strong>and</strong> contracts when a definite-quantity contract, a requirementscontract, or an indefinite-quantity contract is contemplated.ORDERING (APR 1984)(a) Any supplies <strong>and</strong> services to be furnished under this contract shall be ordered by issuance ofdelivery orders by the individuals or activities designated in the Schedule. Such orders may be issuedfrom ...... through ...... (insert dates).(b) All delivery orders are subject to the terms <strong>and</strong> conditions of this contract. In the event ofconflict between a delivery order <strong>and</strong> this contract, the contract shall control.(c) If mailed, a delivery order is considered "issued" when the government deposits the order inthe mail.
