In 2012, the plan is to includethe same criteria for periodic audits. Inthis way, we want to make it clear to allpartners how much the commitment tosustainability drives our business.Encouragement and recognitionIn annual meetings with suppliers, whenwe assess improvements and businessopportunities, the commitment to sustainabilityis always part of the discussionand motivates the exchange ofexperiences. In <strong>2010</strong>, the theme also inspiredthe holding of a special meetingin Brazil, with lectures and workshops onsustainability in the supply chain.We further seek to value the initiativesof partners who are more engaged andWe encourage our partnersin adopting good soCIal andenvironmental practICescommitted to our common goals. Anexample was the Supplier SustainabilityAward, sponsored by <strong>Embraco</strong> China<strong>2010</strong>. A multidisciplinary team fromthe company analyzed documents andevidence from 10 companies with thehighest scores in the self-assessmentand the winner was the company RoshowTechnology Co. Ltd.With the Top Green program, we reducethe generation of waste and promoterecycling of raw materials such as steel,copper, iron and aluminum. The programencourages refrigeration technicians tocollect used compressors and deliverthem to shops accredited by <strong>Embraco</strong>.Participation in the initiative earns discountson new compressors. For thecompany, it means an increase in thesupply of raw materials, and for the environment,it means keeping non-renewablematerials in the production cycle.In <strong>2010</strong>, Top Green assured the reuseof materials from 389,486 compressors.The steel and cast iron are recycleddirectly in the foundry and copper andaluminum are sold to suppliers and reprocessed.Nothing remains.The compressors’ lubricant oil is also recycled.In <strong>2010</strong>, there were 116 liters.
