About 60 employees devoted,each one, more than 30 hours to discoverand develop management practicesto improve the entity’s service tothe population. The initiative was a voluntaryaction designed to involve thecompany’s leadership.Among the volunteers were professionalsspecialized in various areas such ashealth, safety and quality coordinatingactions on six workstreams: InventoryManagement, Quality Management,Waste Management, Fire Brigade, 5SProgram and Kaizen Processes.Our volunteers are moBIlIZedin all of the countries wherewe are presentOne team, for example, chose to actin the bidding process for supplies andmedicines. Volunteers estimate thatthe time spent on the bidding processcould fall from 120 to 67 days, thanksto the knowledge transfer on the useof <strong>Embraco</strong>’s kaizen tool, which aims tostreamline the work.Volunteers also applied a new methodologyfor inventory management, whichimproves control of receiving and dispatchingmaterials. The methodologywas applied in the hospital’s pharmacyand in the storeroom following the sameprocess used by <strong>Embraco</strong>.Italy and ChinaVolunteers also worked with great motivationin Italy and China. In Italy, theMy Ecological School project countedon six volunteers who, for three months,provided support to over 60 studentsfrom the Scuola Media Quarini di Andezeno.The project’s idea is to bring environmentaleducation to a city schoolthrough <strong>Embraco</strong> volunteers who arespecialists in different subjects.Under the program, the content of activitiesis jointly created between theschool and volunteers and the activitiesare carried out during class time.In China, our volunteer program calledWarm Hands, in <strong>2010</strong>, gathered 61 volunteers,totaling 491 hours of work. Inone of the institutions in which we operate,Sun Village, volunteers tutored, toldstories to students, helped teachers andcared for children whose parents are inprison. In total, 980 people were benefitedfrom the project.
