DrumDownDRUM FAST RUN: This switch allows the drum tomove paper rapidly up or down at the rate of 120steps a second. The drum fast run switch is used inconjunction with the carrriage fast run switch toposition the pen to any desired area of the graph.CarriageLeftDRUM SINGLE STEP: This switch allows the drumto be rotated in single step increments (1/100 inch)in either direction. The drum single step switch isused in conjunction with the carriage single stepswitch to permit the operator to accurately align thepen on a point or fixed coordinate on the graph.PEN: This switch provides a means for manuallyraising the pen from the surface of the drum or loweringthe pen to the drum.PenB5— Raise PenBO— Lower PenNote: The encircled numerical figures are the P—C word bit positionsthat correspond to the indicated direction of plotting movement asviewed from the front of the plotter. Normally, graphs are plotted sothat their horizontal axes are, in reality the X axis as shown above.125205 IFigure 80. 1627 Output Record Control3.3 ms for a model 1 or 5 ms for a model 2. Tokeep plotter operation at full speed, the next controlcharacter must be sent to the 1627 within 0.5 msafter the service complete interrupt.A summary of the 1627 operating characteristicsis presented in Figure 81.Functional SwitchesCHART DRIVE: This switch allows the front andrear chart drives to be disabled. When recording onsingle sheets of graph paper, the chart drive switchshould be in the off position. When recording on rollpaper, this switch should be in the on position.VERNIER CONTROL: Large-size chart paper mayvary in width due to high or low humidity; thereforea vernier control is provided on the 1627 model 2, tovary the size of pen-carriage increments. In thisway, pen movement is adjusted to match the printedscale of the chart paper. The vernier control knob islocated at the left end of the drum, above the switchpanel. For work with nonscale paper, the controlshould be centered at the zero position.PLOTTER PROGRAMMINGThe 1627 operates under direct program control andutilizes the execute I/O (XIO) instruction.POWER ON/OFF: This switch brings power fromthe P-C to the 1627. No power on delay is involvedwith the 1627; that is, the 1627 can operate as soonas power is applied. The power on light associatedwith the switch is on when power is on.SpeedX, Y IncrementsModel 118,000Steps/MinModel 212,000Steps/MinPen Status Change 600 600Operations/Min Operations/MinCARRIAGE FAST RUN: This switch allows the pencarriage to be stepped rapidly to the left or right ata rate of 120 steps a second. The carriage fast runswitch is used to move the carriage to any desiredarea of the graph.CARRIAGE SINGLE STEP: This switch allows thepen carriage to be moved in single step increments(1/100 inch), either left or right.
