I've seen manysystem administrators who do not bother to update their installed software, evenwhen faced with security issues. The portaudit tool would be a great help in thissubject. It will help you find which of the installed packages has security advisory,and is awaiting updation.It is recommended that you keep your ports tree up-to-date with your preferredmethod, which is explained in Chapter 2. With the updated ports repository, you caneasily upgrade the installed packages to the latest version, using the tools explainedearlier in this chapter.Finally, always consult /usr/ports/UPDATING before carrying out any majorupgrade on your package installation.
