Sample <strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> InstallationsSample <strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> InstallationsBased on the functionality you want to implement, you can select whichcomponents of <strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> you want to install in your environment.In all <strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> installations, the <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> Server is installedon an application server. After you install the application server, you use the <strong>CA</strong><strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> Installer to install the software you need. The followingsections illustrate some examples of <strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> implementations at ahigh level.Installation with Provisioning Components<strong>CA</strong> <strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> provisioning allows you to create an Environment thatconnects to a Provisioning Server for provisioning accounts to various endpointsystems. You can assign provisioning roles to users you create through <strong>CA</strong><strong>Identity</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>. Provisioning roles are roles with account templates that defineaccounts that users can receive on endpoint systems. Accounts provide userswith access to additional resources, such as an email account.When you assign a provisioning role to a user, that user receives the accountsdefined by the account templates in the role. The account templates also definehow user attributes are mapped to accounts.
