People with disabilities include non-institutionalizedpersons aged 16-64 with sensory, physical, mental or self-care disability or employmentdisability. Unlike the concentrations of elderly persons indicated on the previous figure,the concentrations of people with disabilities tend to be on the periphery of the regionand thus farther from the proximity of fixed transit services.Chapter Three3-3

The analysis was based on results of the 2000 Census,which identifies individuals who are below the poverty level. In the OKI region, thisgroup is the most concentrated of the three population groups. This data is especiallyrelevant to considering the need for transportation improvements funded through JARC(Job Access and Reverse Commute), to improve access to transportation services foremployment and employment-related activities.Chapter Three3-4
