UPDATES, DRILLS AND TRAININGThe Crisis Management Team has overall responsibility for the coordinating and implementingof the Crisis Management Plan. The team will meet annually to evaluate the emergencyprocedures outlined in the plan and to consider revisions and updates.Josh Yarbrough who serves as the lead Crisis Plan team member, will ensure that each campusbuilding has appropriate building safety monitors assigned and that emergency evacuationprocedures are posted throughout each facility. S/he will also ensure that the appropriate firstaid and other relevant supplies are accessible in each building.Josh Yarbrough will also ensure that the Crisis Management Team, as first responders for thecampus, trains internally and with outside units as available and appropriate.Fire drills and other planned evacuations will occur twice yearly to ensure that staff, faculty andstudents are comfortable with the emergency process and to minimize chaos, confusion andpossible harm in the event of a real crisis.RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE UNITSCrisis PlansTo prepare for their unique roles and responsibilities in an emergency, the academic andadministrative units listed below will prepare a unit-specific written emergency plan thataddresses how each will prepare for and respond to an emergency. In the case where emergency contact is necessary,a member of the Executive Committee will contact department managers to start the phonechain. Departmental managers will, in turn, contact their respective employees. Each employeeis directed to contact the next person on the list. If unable to contact that person, the callershould leap to the following person on the list in order that the chain is continued. The lastperson on the list contacts the top of the chain to report that the chain is complete.8
Up-to-date copies of phone trees should be kept at callers’ home residences where they can beassessed easily in the case of an emergency.The Human Resource Department will provide an updated phone listing by department semiannually.9
