FIRE1. Upon discovering a fire, close the door to the room where the fire is located.2. Use your best judgment <strong>and</strong>, if the fire is small, you may wish to fight it with a fireextinguisher or a building firehouse. Be sure you are using the proper extinguisher forthe type of fire you are fighting. If you are not sure, read the instructions on theextinguisher.a. Fire extinguishers are located in all hallways of the building. All kitchens containfire extinguishers, which should be used for kitchen fires only.3. Call 911. Next, call the front desk receptionist at “0”. Give your name, location, telephonenumber, <strong>and</strong> location of the fire.4. If the fire is large, or rapidly spreading, evacuate the building immediately. Inform othersin the building that may not have responded to the alarm to evacuate immediately. If thealarm stops, continue to evacuate. Warn others who may enter the building after thealarm stops.5. If time permits, collect valuables <strong>and</strong> lock files <strong>and</strong> office doors before leaving. Walk, dono run, to the nearest stairway exit. Follow Emergency Evacuation Plan.6. When the fire alarm sounds, do not use elevators. An elevator may become inoperative<strong>and</strong> you may be trapped.7. Notify either safety personnel or fire fighters on the scene if you suspect someone maybe trapped inside the building.36
