ForewordivChapter II of the Report canvasses the Constitutional and statutoryprovisions which govern the regulation of legal education. The reformsin the structure of legal education as suggested by the Law Commission ofIndia as well as the National Knowledge Commission are incorporated inChapter III of the Report. Chapter IV pertains to the Rules framed by theBar Council of India in exercise of its statutory powers.Chapter Vanalyses the requirement of a bar examination in India, while Chapter VIcanvasses the literature analyzed and summarizes the conclusions andrecommendations of the present Committee.The Committee would like to acknowledge the tremendous contributionof Dr. Sam Pitroda in the framing of this report, and the countless hourswhich he spent deliberating the reforms in the legal education sector.The Committee would also like to acknowledge Justice A.P. Mishra,former Judge, Supreme Court of India and other members of the BarCouncil of India Legal Education Committee for the sincerity andcommitment displayed by them to the improvement in standards of legaleducation in the country. In particular, the Committee would like toacknowledge the valuable inputs of Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra.legal advice to the needy sections of our society (See Appendix 4).
