ForewordivChapter II <strong>of</strong> the Report canvasses the Constitutional and statutoryprovisions which govern the regulation <strong>of</strong> legal education. <strong>The</strong> reformsin the structure <strong>of</strong> legal education as suggested by the Law Commission <strong>of</strong><strong>India</strong> as well as the National Knowledge Commission are incorporated inChapter III <strong>of</strong> the Report. Chapter IV pertains to the Rules framed by the<strong>Bar</strong> <strong>Council</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong> in exercise <strong>of</strong> its statutory powers.Chapter Vanalyses the requirement <strong>of</strong> a bar examination in <strong>India</strong>, while Chapter VIcanvasses the literature analyzed and summarizes the conclusions andrecommendations <strong>of</strong> the present Committee.<strong>The</strong> Committee would like to acknowledge the tremendous contribution<strong>of</strong> Dr. Sam Pitroda in the framing <strong>of</strong> this report, and the countless hourswhich he spent deliberating the reforms in the legal education sector.<strong>The</strong> Committee would also like to acknowledge Justice A.P. Mishra,former Judge, Supreme Court <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong> and other members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Bar</strong><strong>Council</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>India</strong> Legal Education Committee for the sincerity andcommitment displayed by them to the improvement in standards <strong>of</strong> legaleducation in the country. In particular, the Committee would like toacknowledge the valuable inputs <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra.legal advice to the needy sections <strong>of</strong> our society (See Appendix 4).
