Programme is expanding this programme via ESDECO to participate in fish export from InlandRiver Resources and Blue Water Fish Produce.Sepik Sea products Limited will establish the Major Export-Marketing infrastructure and carryout limited processing <strong>of</strong> fish from the subject property at Section E, Allotment 3, Town <strong>of</strong>Wewak. <strong>The</strong> joint operations will necessitate a major reconstruction programme to buildings onthe land and the introduction <strong>of</strong> Large Ice Making Facilities, Blast Freezers and Cold Storage(Estimated capital cost K250,000).<strong>The</strong> Wewak Operation will initially involve 3 fishing vessels, based in Wewak and operating inBismark Waters. <strong>The</strong> boats will operate on a 10-14 day turn around, and are using long liners tocatch premium albacore, yellow fin and skipjack tuna for export to the Sashimi market in Japan.<strong>The</strong> other part <strong>of</strong> SSP?ESDECO operations is fish processing. A small canning operation <strong>of</strong>Bech-de-mer, squid and filleting, vacuum packing <strong>of</strong> export grades <strong>of</strong> river eels will beintroduced—late 2001.<strong>The</strong> Motor Vessel Avisat (idle at Angoram since 1995) arrived in Wewak (under own power) inNovember 2001. Sepik Sea Products Limited is funding the capital cost <strong>of</strong> rep[airs/refurbishment<strong>of</strong> hull and motors and refrigeration plant (onboard). Coast at 1 Aprik 2001—total K155,000.<strong>The</strong> vessel is alongside the small ships wharf—opposite Fisheries.<strong>The</strong> “Avisat” is programmed to commence a Sepik River Operational Schedule in early May2001—two trips per month is planned between Wewak—Mouth <strong>of</strong> the Sepik—Angoram—Ambunti—and return to Wewak.Sepik Sea Products Limited is founded and owned by well-known PNG <strong>business</strong>man Sir HugoBerghuser, MBE. East Sepik Development Corporation (ESDECO) is committed to participationin SSP.All operations necessitate the use, after a complete rebuilding programme <strong>of</strong> propertyinfrastructure, <strong>of</strong> Section E Allotment 3, Town <strong>of</strong> Wewak.Furthermore:<strong>The</strong> Documented Investments by National Provincial and RAP finding at Sec E Lot 3, Town <strong>of</strong>Wewak—is substantial.In 1995 RH Sir Michael T. Somare (then) Governor ESP issues—Our Brief (June 1995).To research to establish a fish and marine produce processing holding/storage, marketing andsales plant at “Fisheries Wewak.” This “company/plant”, which will trade and function as acommercial enterprise company, will serve village fishing communities; and fishing groups canelect to sell their marine produce to the company under certain quota/grade fixed priceagreements. <strong>The</strong> “company/Plant” in turn will process and market fish products to localwholesalers, retailers, shops, hotels and to East Sepik inland markets.Sepik Marine Resources Pty Limited was incorporated on 11 March 1996.RAP Funding to project via Department <strong>of</strong> East Sepik Province became available in two (2)stances (sic),213
