David O’Rear,the Chamber’s ChiefEconomist, and membersof the Chamber’s Americasand China committeeswelcomed the visitors, whowere briefed on the latestbusiness developments inHong Kong.Asia/Africa CommitteeTakako Shimadzu,Director of InternationalAffairs Department of theKagoshima PrefecturalGovernment and ManagerYukiko Enomoto, togetherwith Motokazu Nishimura,Director of KPG HongKong, called on the Chamberon July 19. The visit as inpreparation for the 18thHong Kong-KagoshimaConference, which will takeplace on October 25 this yearin Hong Kong. HKGCC hasbeen a long-time supporterof the conference, which aimsto foster closer ties betweenHong Kong and Kagoshima.A 27-member delegationfrom the food sector inIran called on the Chamberon August 14 and metwith members of the Asia/Africa Committee as wellas Chamber members inthe food sector. BehzadMirzaei, Vice Chairman ofthe Chamber’s Asia/AfricaCommittee, welcomedthe visitors and providedan update on the latestdevelopments in Hong Kongand how the two sides couldfacilitate trade.
