This is an everpresent danger <strong>in</strong> the church. Wemust be alert to this and not hesitate to rebuke sharply the va<strong>in</strong>,unruly talkers <strong>in</strong> order that they may be sound <strong>in</strong> the faith and <strong>in</strong>order that the church may be preserved and blessed. Aga<strong>in</strong>, iftheva<strong>in</strong> talkers persist <strong>in</strong> their deceitful ways by refus<strong>in</strong>g to heed thesharp admonitions of the faithful preachers, they must be put outofthe church by means ofthe application ofChristian discipl<strong>in</strong>e.Verses 15, 16(15) All th<strong>in</strong>gs are pure to the ones who are pure, but to the onesdefiled (polluted. sta<strong>in</strong>ed, contam<strong>in</strong>ated) and unbel iev<strong>in</strong>g noth<strong>in</strong>gis pure. but both the m<strong>in</strong>d and conscience of them have beendefiled.(16) They profess to know God. but by their works they denyhim, be<strong>in</strong>g abom<strong>in</strong>able and disobedient,17 and regard<strong>in</strong>g everygood work reprobate.These verses form the conclusion of this last section ofchapter one. The "allth<strong>in</strong>gs" are simply everyth<strong>in</strong>g that God created to be received byus with thanksgiv<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g "meats which God hath created tobereceivedwith thanksgiv<strong>in</strong>g ofthem which believe and know the17.
