Ever s<strong>in</strong>ce I saw aBanner of Truth advertisement<strong>in</strong>dicat<strong>in</strong>g that the Truth Trustwas <strong>in</strong> the process ofrepublish<strong>in</strong>gthese volumes, I have beeneagerly await<strong>in</strong>g their appearance.Myoid edition is dis<strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g,held together by booktape, with many pages fall<strong>in</strong>gout. Ever s<strong>in</strong>ce I began to read<strong>in</strong> them I have wonderedwhy noone has ever repr<strong>in</strong>ted them.Anyone who preaches onthe HeidelbergCatechism regularlywill greatly benefit fromread<strong>in</strong>g these volumes. Thosewho are not preachers and knowthe preciousness ofthe HeidelbergCatechism will deeply appreciatethe works of GeorgeBethune. M<strong>in</strong>isters who preachthrough the Heidelberg Catechismover and over aga<strong>in</strong>, asdo m<strong>in</strong>isters <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Protestant</strong><strong>Reformed</strong> <strong>Churches</strong>, are alwayslook<strong>in</strong>g for good commentarieson the catechism. The commentaryby Bethune def<strong>in</strong>itely ranksamong the best I have everread.Bethune's lectures'are fullof deep and rich and newthoughts on the Heidelberg Catechism.BethUlle is often quotedby the followers ofthe Puritans.Faithful preach<strong>in</strong>g on theHeidelbergCatechism <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Reformed</strong>churches has done agreat deal to help with systematicdoctr<strong>in</strong>al preach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> thechurches. Such preach<strong>in</strong>g is oneofthe greatest strengths oftruly<strong>Reformed</strong> churches.
