The factory began production at the start of December 2010.Nouakchott Mauritania In October 2008, the Group took control of 65 % of the equity of BSA CimentSA, which operates a cement mill near the capital.Chatrasala India <strong>Vicat</strong> Sagar Cement, a joint venture set up by the Group with its Indian partner,is currently building the first line at a greenfield plant in Karnataka, withan initial capacity of 2.5 million tonnes, which will increase to 5.5 tonnes inthe second phase.Kadapa India In April 2010, the Group acquired 51 % of the company Bharathi Cement. Thecompany had a 2.5 million tonnes capacity factory, which was increased to5 million tonnes in the 2 nd half of 2010.In most cases, the Group owns the land on which itscement factories are built. The Lebec cement factoryhas a lease granted in 1966 for a term of 99 years, ofwhich 54 years remain. In addition, except for somerolling items (such as loaders and trucks), the productionequipment is fully-owned.The Group manages the clay and limestone quarriesand owns the land it exploits, either through renewablemining rights agreements for terms of between10 to 30 years according to country, or through concessionsgranted by the state, which offer both useof the land and the right to exploit it. These concessionsare also renewable periodically.From the outset of its quarry operations, the Grouptakes into account the constraints of restoring itssites. See section 8.2 “Environmental policy” of thisRegistration Document.8.1.2. Ready-mixed concreteThe ready-mixed concrete business included 248concrete batching plants as at December 31, 2010.These concrete batching plants consist of raw materialsstorage facilities and concrete preparationtanks. This equipment is heavily automated in orderto ensure consistency in the quality of the concretemanufactured. With the exception of four batchingplants rented in Turkey, the Group owns its concretebatching plants.In addition, this ready-mixed concrete business operatesa fleet of mixer trucks and pumping trucksto deliver the concrete to building sites. The Groupdirectly operates part of this fleet, either as ownerof the trucks or under financing leasing agreements.For the remainder it sub-contracts delivery of theconcrete to lessors who have their own equipment.64 VICAT 2010 registration document
