HEALTH OFFICERThe mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Windham</strong> Public Health Program is to safeguard the health and well-being <strong>of</strong> the<strong>Windham</strong> residents and community visitors. The Health Officer’s responsibilities include food servicetracking, septic system performance, community drinking water quality, child care facility inspections,disease control, mosquito control, home living conditions and standards, nuisance response, beachbacteria monitoring, enforcement <strong>of</strong> Local and State Health Regulations, and other health related duties.The <strong>Windham</strong> Board <strong>of</strong> Health and its Health Officer ensures the delivery <strong>of</strong> public health services andmaintaining an effective public health program. The local health program is an extension <strong>of</strong> NH Healthand Human Services which oversees and guides local health programs and the Health Officer. TheHealth Officer networks with other communities to ensure continuity <strong>of</strong> purpose.During 2012, myself and Deputy Health Officer Mike McGuire were involved in a variety <strong>of</strong> healthrelatedpublic inspections and enforcement actions. I conducted the <strong>Town</strong>’s community well testingprogram and, when necessary, relayed vital information from NH Department <strong>of</strong> Health and HumanServices to the public.
