COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTCommunity Partnerships:• Coordinated with <strong>Windham</strong> High School to hold an Internship, Community Service and Job Fairfor High School Students, as well as participated in the annual Career Day;• Provided outreach opportunities and media for the various nonpr<strong>of</strong>its located in <strong>Windham</strong>, andthose serving the <strong>Town</strong> and its residents;• Assisted the with the Go Green Fair to provide local business and non-pr<strong>of</strong>it contacts andresources; and• Worked with the local <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> Senator Shaheen, Senator Ayotte and Congressman Bass fortheir staff to hold <strong>of</strong>fice hours in <strong>Town</strong>.CUSTOMER SERVICE:You are our customer and the Department is making every effort to enhance our customer-orientedoutlook to better serve your needs. In 2012, the ways that we have worked to meet your needs includethe following:• Posting on the <strong>Town</strong> website all Planning Board and Zoning Board <strong>of</strong> Adjustment meetingagendas, public hearing notices, meeting minutes, application forms, rules <strong>of</strong> procedure/bylaws,and regulations, as well as having them available in the Department;• Posting on the <strong>Town</strong> website all Conservation Commission and <strong>Windham</strong> Economic DevelopmentCommittee meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and rules <strong>of</strong> procedure, as well as having themavailable in the Department;• Ensuring that all postings for meetings <strong>of</strong> these four Boards/Committees are done at the <strong>Town</strong>Hall, Community Development Department, and on the <strong>Town</strong> web site;• Revised Department applications and flow charts as a result <strong>of</strong> the 2012 <strong>Town</strong> Meeting votes, aswell as updating the Building Permit applications;• Held two public forums on general interest topics – State <strong>of</strong> NH Shoreland Protection Law andSoils Based Lot Sizing;• Reorganizing the staffing structure <strong>of</strong> the Department and adding an additional staff position toallow for more in-<strong>of</strong>fice assistance to the public;• Providing information on the <strong>Town</strong> web site on <strong>Town</strong> projects, such as the Village CenterDistrict Subcommittee, Design Review Subcommittee, and <strong>Town</strong> Meeting Zoning OrdinanceAmendments, to help keep the public informed;• Worked with all <strong>Town</strong> Departments to coordinate open houses for public and businesses to visitthe Departments, ask questions and meet <strong>Town</strong> staff;• Writing articles for the local papers on topics <strong>of</strong> interest to the community, which includedinformational articles on regulations pertaining to Floodplain Insurance Rate Increase, PoliticalSignage, Temporary Signage, Parking <strong>of</strong> Unregistered Vehicles, Customary HomeOccupation/Home-Based Childcare, Small Wind Energy Systems, Accessory Apartments,Agriculture Uses and Farm Stands, Homeowners Associations, Property Boundaries, andFertilization and Pesticides in Watershed Areas; and2012 ANNUAL REPORTS 87 TOWN OF WINDHAM, NH
