COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTThe Community Development Department continued to promote customer service and efficiency in 2012to better serve the residents, landowners, developers, and businesses <strong>of</strong> <strong>Windham</strong>. The Department alsoresponded to feedback supporting the continued emphasis on community economic development outreachand activities. Although it is impossible to capture a year’s worth <strong>of</strong> activities in a few pages, some <strong>of</strong>the efforts undertaken are listed below.COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT:The Department has an emphasis on working with residents and landowners to plan how the communitywill develop in the long-term. The opportunities to create and foster partnerships with local businessesand non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organizations to better serve the economic interests <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong> are plentiful.Some <strong>of</strong> these partnerships and initiatives previously mentioned are listed below for your information.Additional detail on these partnerships, initiatives, and events can also be found on the CommunityDevelopment web site at www.windham-nh.com.Business Partnerships:• Welcomed the following businesses into <strong>Windham</strong>: Black Moose Country Store, Massage Chi,<strong>Windham</strong> Crossing Learning Center, Dance Connection, Kumo Sushi, Granite State PoliceSupply, Emerson and Douglas Associates, Lillea, Ideal Office, ABC RC & Hobbies,ConvenientMD, Elite Feet Artists Company, Coco, Early & Associates, Derry Medical Center,Derry Imagining, Southern NH Internal Medicine Associates, LabCorp, Concord Orthopaedics,Derry Neurological Associates, Granite State Gastrointestinal Consultants, Women’s HealthAssociates <strong>of</strong> Derry, 36Creative and James Letourneau Chiropractic Physician;• Celebrated 1 year anniversaries for Lucia’s Bodega, Green Sprouts Child Care, Art <strong>of</strong> Strength,and Anytime Fitness;• Welcomed the relocation and expansion <strong>of</strong> Sophisticakes (formerly Shabby Chic), <strong>Windham</strong>Pilates Health & Wellness Center, Soleil Salon & Spa, and Golden Crane Traditional MartialArts within <strong>Town</strong>;• Facilitated a Fall Business Education Seminar Series, consisting <strong>of</strong> a total <strong>of</strong> 4 sessions, cosponsoredby The Greater Salem Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce, Pentucket Bank, and other localbusinesses to provide free educational opportunities for the local business community;• Collaborated with the Greater Salem Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce to host a Business After Hours andBusiness Expo at the <strong>Windham</strong> High School;• Organized the First Annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza to provide a venue for local businessholiday sales while providing financial assistance to worthy non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organizations as part <strong>of</strong> theevent;• Helped advertise the Best <strong>of</strong> NH competition and celebrated the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Windham</strong> businesswinners;• Represented the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Windham</strong> on The Greater Salem Chamber <strong>of</strong> Commerce EconomicDevelopment Committee; and• Hosted <strong>of</strong>fice hours for the local representative <strong>of</strong> the Small Business Administration andpromoted the opportunity to the local business community.2012 ANNUAL REPORTS 85 TOWN OF WINDHAM, NH
