But thismission has had considerable difficulties in co mmunicatingthe Gospel to the Meiteis, and today the number of Baptist<strong>Christian</strong>s a mong the Meiteis is declining.In 1970, the Presbyterians from Mizora m opened amission among the Meiteis by starting ahigh school atMoirang along with lower schools in some other places.Boththe Baptists and the Presbyterians employed their own menfrom the hills to preach the Gospel and followed the traditionalpattern of the mission station.The Presbyteriansshifted their headquarters to Impha1 in 1978.They havebeen somewhat more successful than the Baptists in winningthe Meiteis to Christ.TheKuki <strong>Christian</strong> Church began work among the Meiteisin 1977 after the Gospel Mission Society was <strong>for</strong>med.Dr. T.
