It is recommended a heavier wall thickness pipe be used for crossings section than isrequired for adjacent section.OISD 141 Clause 5.1.6.3 requires the selection of pipe to have an outside diameter to wall thicknessratio (D/t ratio) not greater than 100 to avoid mechanically handling difficulties (susceptibility toflattening, ovality, buckling and denting). WorleyParsons recommends D/t ratio not greater than 96 –this shall be adopted for the Project.5.10 Corrosion Protection5.10.1 Corrosion AllowanceCorrosion allowance for the pipeline systems is 0.5 mm.5.10.2 Corrosion Coating – LinepipeThe selected corrosion coating shall be suitable for the design temperature range specified in theProcess Design Basis.It is proposed to provide corrosion protection of the buried pipeline using external 3 layerPolyethylene coating for the pipelines. The total thickness of the coating shall be minimum 2.2 mmnormal type (n) as per DIN 30670. All field joints shall be coated with heat shrinkable sleeves.In addition to the corrosion coating, the entire buried portion of pipeline system shall be provided withImpressed Current Cathodic Protection System. No internal coating is envisaged.
