not come to comprehend His greatness. In fact, the ancientGreek philosophers, who presumed themselves to be veryintelligent, were not able to comprehend Allâhu ta’âlâ’sexistence. They denied the Creator. Their limited intellectssupposed that time had been making everything. Everybodyknows about the struggle between Nimrod, who was the king ofthe world, and Ibrâhîm (’alaihi ’s-salâm) which is narrated in theQur’ân. Also the ominous Pharaoh said, ‘You do not have anyother god besides me.’ In fact, this idiot tried to dishearten Mûsâ(’alaihi ’s-salâm) by saying, ‘If you believe in any other godbesides me, I will imprison you.’ So, men’s short intellects couldnot comprehend this greatest blessing [of realizing Allâhuta’âlâ’s existence]. Unless the exalted prophets existed, theyattain this endless bliss.“When the Greek philosophers heard from prophets that theearth and the skies had one creator and thereby realized thatthey themselves had been in a wrong and evil way, they had toaffirm that Allâhu ta’âlâ existed. They said that all the things hadone creator. A glitter of the lights which prophets spreadilluminated their darkened hearts. Remnants from the opendining-tables of those great people became medication forthese deadly ill people. Likewise, what prophets revealed, suchas that Allâhu ta’âlâ has Superior Attributes, that He has sentprophets, that angels are innocent, that there will be Rising afterdeath and that there are infinite blessings, favours in Paradiseand torments in Hell and many other things which Islamdeclares, cannot be comprehended through reasoning. Unlessthese are heard from prophets, they cannot be explored withmen’s short minds.“Ancient Greek Philosophers said that reason never wentwrong and it comprehended the truth of everthing and waswithout a limit. They tried to solve by reasoning what reasoncould not comprehend. On the contrary, reason goes wrongeven in worldly knowledge. And it can never comprehend theknowledge pertaining to the next world. As reason can explorethe things that cannot be comprehended through the senses, sothe things which reason cannot comprehend will be understoodthrough prophets’ revelation. As reason is above the senseorgans, so prophethood is above the power of reason. Thethings which the power of reason cannot reach will be learnedthrough prophets’ revelation. To believe that Allâhu ta’âlâ exists- 307 -
