the principles of qadâ’, qadar, tawakkul and contentment taughtby the religion, and the proposed sufficiency of belief in order tobecome a Muslim, simply believing by heart and confessing bythe tongue. Qadâ’, qadar and tawakkul have annihilated thedetermination and will in Muslims and by decreasing theirconfidence in their work and in their own personalities causedthem to abase themselves so far as to endure every kind oftorture and humiliation. The idea of being content with littlemade people lazy. And since it was too simple to be a Muslim,none of the modern and moral qualities was regardednecessary for being a Muslim, and it was considered thatMuslims could do every evil; which in turn led to laziness andimmorality.”We will tell about all these clearly and in full detail in thefollowing article.26 - The reformer says:“The Muslim believes that what happens, whether good orevil, has been predestined in eternity by Allah: ‘We are humancreatures. The creature cannot help it. Allah makes everything.The creature cannot change qadar. For example, thesustenance of everybody has been determined in eternity.Whatever we do, we cannot change it. A danger will harm us ifAllah wills, and it will not if He does not will.’ Besides havingtawakkul there is no way out for Muslim.” Thus, he tries toundermine the basic beliefs of Islam.All the Islamic beliefs stated in the last paragraph arecorrect. Like the ignorant people who misunderstand qadâ’ andqadar, the reformer probably cannot understand theseconcepts. Nevertheless, all Muslims, even the ones whomisunderstand them, like them, while the reformer dislikesthem. If Muslims were lazy because of this belief, they wouldhave to be lazy in worshipping, too; one who is lazy because ofhis belief that nothing is in his power, would be lazy not only inworldly affairs but also in duties pertaining to the next world. IfIslam had tied man’s hands, feet, option and will in worldlyaffairs, it would have kept them tied also in religious affairs. Doreformers believe that people with such a belief are lazy also inall their ’ibâdât including salât and fast? If they do so, why don’tthey complain also about this kind of laziness? They do notmention or write about this laziness; is it because Muslims donot believe in qadâ’ and qadar in their affairs pertaining to the- 35 -
