Our Prophet ‘sall-Allâhu ’alaihi wasallam’ stated, “A person whomAllâhu ta’âlâ loves very much is onewho learns his religion and teachesit to others. Learn your religion fromthe mouths of Islamic scholars!”A person who cannot find a true scholar mustlearn by reading books written by the scholars ofAhl as-sunna, and try hard to spread these books.A Muslim who has ’ilm (knowledge), ’amal(practising what one knows; obeying Islam’scommandments and prohibitions), and ikhlâs(doing everything only to please Allâhu ta’âlâ) iscalled an Islamic scholar. A person whorepresents himself as an Islamic scholar though helacks any one of these qualifications is called an‘evil religious scholar’, or an ‘impostor’. An Islamicscholar is a guard who protects Islam.
