Chalk the Walk
at Lake Ellyn
Age: All
Remember the days when you were a
kid and spent your afternoons drawing
on the sidewalk with chalk? This is just
like that! Spend the day at beautiful
Lake Ellyn with your very own sidewalk
square to imagine and create in. We’ll
provide each participant square with a
box of chalk and access to water (for
easy erasing). Enjoy music in the park
as you create a masterpiece, or grab
some friends and play some tic-tactoe!
Prizes will be awarded for most
creative, most artistic, and best display
of Glen Ellyn Pride. Concessions will be
available for purchase. Proceeds from
the event will benefit the Glen Ellyn
Park District Scholarship Fund. [JR]

Poochapalooza
Age: All
Bring your BFF - Best Furry Friend - for
a howlin’ good time! This year’s event
features sheep herding: watch trained
dogs in action as they use directions
from their handler to round up sheep!
Let your pooch try the agility training
course, watch the Windy City Disc
Dogs in action, and learn health &
safety tips during demos by experts.
Plus, you can let your pooch go offleash
in our special designated area!
Don’t forget to gather free info &
give-aways at our booths! We will also
have pet contests, such as Doggie Diva
and Pet/Owner Look-Alike Contest
you can register for the day of. All dogs
must remain leashed except in our
designated area. Sponsorships & booth

National Public Lands Day
Age: All
National Public Lands Day (also called
NPLD) is the nation’s largest, single-day
volunteer event for public lands. NPLD
brings together many thousands of
individual and organizational volunteers
to help restore the country’s public
lands. These are the places Americans
use for outdoor recreation, education
and just plain enjoyment. Research
shows that one step to preventing
childhood obesity, diabetes and
depression is getting kids and families
to spend more time outside. NPLD
is a great way to get acquainted with
local, as well as national public lands,
while meeting other volunteers and
community members. Bring the family
out for a morning of service and
learning at the Glen Ellyn Park District!
Our plan for NPLD includes supervised
children’s activities, a hike around
the park, storytelling, a scavenger
hunt and craft projects. Adults and
older children can also assist staff on
restoration efforts. Refreshments will
