Harz Mountains National Park with Torfhaus National Park Station
At its altitude of 812 metres Torfhaus is a true high point of the Harz Mountains. Even
Goethe started from Torfhaus on his Brocken hikes. Today not only hikers, cyclists and
winter athletes meet at Torfhaus but also nature-lovers. Since 2009 they have been able
to attend multimedia exhibitions at the National Park Visitors Centre which also appeal to
children and enjoy a magnifi cent view of Mount Brocken from its big panorama glass wall.
This is also where daily hikes guided by the National Park Rangers start from, which you
can reserve at the Upper Harz Mountain Tourist Information Offi ce.
