Role of Associate Dean of Student Affairs (or designee)<br />
The Associate Dean of Student Affairs (or designee) is the primary person who will investigate<br />
the case, inform the alleged victim and accused of rights and processes, and prepare all<br />
documents relative to the case. Other Student Affairs staff may assist in the process depending<br />
on the circumstances of the case.<br />
Role of the Dean of Students<br />
The Dean of Students will, upon request of an appeal, determine if there is merit for an appeal of<br />
a sexual misconduct decision to be granted. If there is merit to the appeal, based on established<br />
criteria, the Dean will notify all parties involved as to their respective responsibilities in the<br />
process and provide required notification of outcomes.<br />

While the Title IX Coordinator has ultimate oversight responsibility over all Title IX complaints,<br />
the Deputy Coordinator will provide direct guidance and supervision in allegations of sexual<br />
harassment and sexual misconduct involving students. More specifically, the responsibilities of<br />
the Deputy Coordinator are as follows:<br />
Be available to meet with student complainants and those individuals who are accused of<br />
sexual harassment and violence as needed to discuss the University’s grievance<br />
procedures and support services.<br />
Review all evidence and administrative notes pertaining to reports of sexual harassment<br />
and violence involving students and closely monitor all investigations and conduct<br />
proceedings to ensure a fair and comprehensive process.<br />
o Note: The Deputy Coordinator does not have any job responsibilities that would<br />
create a conflict of interest in cases brought to a student conduct hearing.<br />
Create educational materials and training programs on sexual harassment and violence<br />
for dissemination to the campus community.<br />
