Commuter Council Contact: Sarah Bedford, President Commuter Council (CC) is made up of representatives elected from the commuting students working closely with the Student Affairs Cabinet, the Inter-Residence Hall Council, the Off-Campus Council, and Student Government. Commuter Council administers parking, educational, and social activities for commuting students at the University. Its campus telephone number is extension 2915. Inter-Residence Hall Council Contact: TBD, President The Inter-Residence Hall Council (IRHC) consists of elected representatives from each campus residence hall. Its major function is to deal with the concerns of resident students—policy, parking, maintenance, etc.—and to present these concerns to the administration. IRHC works closely with Student Government, Off Campus Council, and Commuter Council to plan campus-wide social events and activities. The Residence Life Office works closely with IRHC to develop and administer residence hall policy in conjunction with the Student Affairs Cabinet. IRHC meetings are held every week on Thursdays at 11 a.m. in the Student Center. Scheduled meetings are announced at the beginning of each semester. All students are welcome to attend IRHC meetings and/or serve as a member of one of its committees. The office of the Inter-Residence Hall Council is on the first floor of the Student Center. Off Campus Council Contact: Charles Hanford, President The Off Campus Council serves as the voice for students living in apartments off campus. The Council provides programming for this group of students and is the principle organizer of the annual Block Party. Multicultural Student Coalition Contact: Kayla Rooney, President The Multicultural Student Coalition is responsible for providing campus-wide programming to promote diversity awareness and appreciation. The group offers several events annually including Black History Month programming and the MSC Fashion Show. 25
Programming Board Contact: Thalia Garzon, President The Wilkes University Programming Board (WUPB) is responsible for providing quality entertainment for the campus. This organization is open to all students with an interest in contacting agents and performers, making campus arrangements for events, promoting and publicizing shows, providing hospitality for performers, setting up and breaking down event equipment, and providing and operating the necessary technical equipment for all events. Programming Board presents novelty and entertainment acts, such as comedians, hypnotists, and virtual reality, as well as major concerts. They also provide reduced-cost tickets for movies and major entertainment events in the area. As members of Programming Board, students develop organizational, marketing, public relations, and technical skills. Meetings are held every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center. The Programming Board office is located on the first floor of the Student Center, ext. 2925. 26
