In another article I wrote about<br />

belief. Biblically it means something<br />

like knowing. If something<br />

resonates within me occupying<br />

the totality of my body and person<br />

unpolluted by any argument,<br />

that is belief of Biblical proportions.<br />

That is the way Abraham<br />

believed when God promised<br />

him children numbered like the<br />

stars, and he held that belief all<br />

his days until the birth of Isaac,<br />

even though Sarah gave him<br />

her Egyptian handmaid Hagar<br />

to have a child for her. This was<br />

not a human belief. This was a<br />

belief planted in him by God Himself,<br />

and which he had accepted.<br />

This was a gift of faith. He had<br />

sought truth, or sought God, and<br />

this was God’s response to him,<br />

this gift of faith. He is the father<br />

of men of faith today as well as<br />

of the Jewish people. People<br />

of faith are Abraham’s seed.<br />

Galatians 3:6, 7. Even as Abraham<br />

believed God, and it was<br />

accounted to him for righteousness.<br />

Know you therefore that<br />

they who are of faith, the same<br />

are the children of Abraham.<br />

Not all Jewish people are the<br />

seed of Abraham in this sense,<br />

but of course there are many<br />

Jews with the faith gift. True<br />

Christians have the gift of faith as<br />

had Abraham, and can believe<br />

as simply and totally as little<br />

child, which indeed we are in the<br />

sight of Almighty God. It is not a<br />

human belief, but rather a knowing<br />

from God. Christians can<br />

usually remember the day when<br />

this gift was first given to them<br />

personally. Life takes on a different<br />

quality from that time on, an<br />

eternal quality that doesn’t wear<br />

off. It doesn’t always include the
