10.4.3 Bottoms<br />

10.4.3.2 Weld shell to bottom first (except for door sheets) before weldout of<br />

bottom plates is started.<br />

10.4.4 Shells<br />

10.4.4.1 Same fit-up/welding procedures and values as allowed in <strong>API</strong>-650<br />

for vertical joints:<br />

a. Over 5/8" thick - misalignment shall not exceed 10% of "t" (maximum<br />

0.125").<br />

b. Under 0.625" thick - misalignment shall not exceed 0.06".<br />

NOTE: Complete vertical welding before roundseam below is welded.<br />

10.4.4.2 Horizontal joints<br />

Upper plate shall not project over lower by more than 20% of upper plate<br />

"t"(with 0.125" maximum).<br />

10.4.4.3 Material over 1.50" thick a minimum pre-heat of 200°F is required.<br />

10.4.5 Roofs<br />

There are no special stipulations, except that structural members must be<br />

reasonably true to line and surface.<br />
