AND PERSONNEL<br />

This appendix was established in the first addenda to edition three of <strong>API</strong> 653<br />

andoutlines procedure and qualifications for floor scanning,<br />

G.2 Definitions<br />

G.2.1 essential variables: Variables in the procedure that cannot be<br />

changed without the procedure and scanning operators being re-qualified.<br />

G.2.2 examiners: Scanning operators and NDE technicians who prove-up<br />

bottom indications.<br />

G.2.3 bottom scan: The use of equipment over large portions of the tank<br />

bottom to detect corrosion in a tank bottom. One common type of bottom<br />

scanning equipment is the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) scanner.<br />

G 2.4 authorized inspection agency: Organizations that employ an<br />

aboveground storage tank inspector certified by <strong>API</strong> (see 3.4).<br />

G.2.5 non- ssential variables: Variables in the procedure that can be<br />

changed without having to re-qualify the procedure and/or scanning operators.<br />
