This <strong>to</strong> me <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> last watch of <strong>the</strong> night, was <strong>the</strong> third knowledge I<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed, ignorance was abandoned, knowledge arose, darkness was<br />

abandoned, light arose, as I was liv<strong>in</strong>g heedful, ardent, and resolute<br />

<strong>in</strong> this way.<br />

while seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ageless, supreme, secure Nibbāna,<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> ageless, supreme, secure Nibbāna.<br />

Be<strong>in</strong>g myself subject <strong>to</strong> sickness,<br />

after understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> danger <strong>in</strong> <strong>be</strong><strong>in</strong>g subject <strong>to</strong> sickness,<br />

while seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> sickless, supreme, secure Nibbāna,<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> sickless, supreme, secure Nibbāna.<br />

Be<strong>in</strong>g myself subject <strong>to</strong> death,<br />

after understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> danger <strong>in</strong> <strong>be</strong><strong>in</strong>g subject <strong>to</strong> death,<br />

while seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> deathless, supreme, secure Nibbāna,<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> deathless, supreme, secure Nibbāna.<br />

Be<strong>in</strong>g myself subject <strong>to</strong> grief,<br />

after understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> danger <strong>in</strong> <strong>be</strong><strong>in</strong>g subject <strong>to</strong> grief,<br />

while seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> griefless, supreme, secure Nibbāna,<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> griefless, supreme, secure Nibbāna.<br />

Be<strong>in</strong>g myself subject <strong>to</strong> defilements,<br />

after understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> danger <strong>in</strong> <strong>be</strong><strong>in</strong>g subject <strong>to</strong> defilements,<br />

while seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> undefiled, supreme, secure Nibbāna,<br />

atta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong> undefiled, supreme, secure Nibbāna.<br />
