Lena Hoschek, popular Austrian fashion designer, is the patroness of Fête Impériale in <strong>2016</strong>, which is under the patronage of the province of Styria this year. A native of<br />
Graz, her romantic style will bring fresh energy to the summer ball.<br />

Ihre Aufgabe als Patronesse der Fête Impériale hat Sie<br />
bereits nach Piber zur Begegnung mit Ihrem Paten-Fohlen<br />
geführt - inspiriert Sie das Umfeld der Spanischen<br />
Hofreitschule auch für Ihre Mode-Entwürfe?<br />
Ja, denn das Gestüt Piber ist in der wunderschönen, steirischen<br />
Landschaft eingebettet. Hier schöpfe ich Inspiration für meine<br />
Trachtenkollektionen. Die Begegnung mit meinem Paten-Fohlen<br />
in diesem Idyll war außerdem ein wirklich besonderes Erlebnis.<br />
Was beinhaltet Ihre Rolle als Patronesse der Fête<br />
Impériale weiters?<br />
Frau Gürtler wird eine Lena Hoschek Atelier Couture Robe<br />
tragen, welche wir ihr für den Ball zur Verfügung stellen und die<br />
danach für einen wohltätigen Zweck versteigert wird.<br />
Wie gehen Sie mit der strengen Kleiderordnung der Bälle<br />
um - Stichwort bodenlanges Abendkleid. Wäre es nicht an<br />
der Zeit, auch auf Wiener Traditionsbällen mehr<br />
modischen Spielraum zuzulassen?<br />
Nein, denn ich finde, dass ein solcher Dresscode genügend<br />
Spielraum lässt und der Glamour oftmals auch mit der<br />
Rocklänge einhergeht. Es ist sehr schön, zu so einem Anlass<br />
auch tatsächlich Couture zu sehen. Und was die Männer betriftt:<br />
die freuen sich und sind dankbar für eine klare Vorgabe.<br />
Sie verwenden in Ihren Entwürfen oft Stilelemente aus<br />
den 50er Jahren - was fasziniert Sie so an dieser Zeit?<br />
Ich liebe vor allem die raffinierten Schnitte, wie die feminine und<br />
überaus kleidsame Sanduhr-Silhouette. Durch die Betonung der<br />
Taille werden die Vorzüge einer Frau perfekt unterstrichen.<br />
Ihre aktuelle Sommer-Kollektion ist eine Hommage an die<br />
Provence - gehen Sie viel auf Reisen um den sehr<br />
ausgefallenen, farbenfrohen Stoffen Ihrer Kollektionen<br />
nachzuspüren?<br />
Eigentlich nicht. Wenn ich jedoch reise, dann besuche ich stets<br />
alle Textil- und Volkskundemuseen, um mehr über die<br />
Traditionen und spezifischen Ländertrachten zu erfahren. Ich<br />
kann mich wochen- und monatelang mit einem Thema<br />
beschäftigen und mich in Bücher, Pinterest & Co vertiefen.<br />
Welche Styling Akzente werden Sie selber mit Ihrer Robe<br />
an diesem Sommerabend setzen?<br />
Zu einem Anlass wie diesem darf bei mir schöner, antiker<br />
Schmuck nicht fehlen. Da darf man schon mal klotzen statt<br />
kleckern.<br />
As patroness of the Fête Impériale, your duties have already<br />
taken you to Piber to meet your “sponsored foal”. Has the<br />
environment of the Spanish Riding School also inspired you<br />
for your fashion designs?<br />
Yes, because the stud farm in Piber is nestled in the most beautiful<br />
Styrian landscape. I can get inspiration here for my traditional<br />
costume collections. Meeting my sponsored foal in this idyll was<br />
also a very special experience.<br />
What does your role as patroness of the Fête Impériale<br />
further entail?<br />
Ms. Gürtler is going to wear a couture gown from the Lena<br />
Hoschek Atelier collection, which we are lending her for the ball<br />
and which will be sold at auction for charity afterwards.<br />
How are you going to deal with the strict ball dress-code –<br />
especially the floor-length evening gown. Isn‘t it finally<br />
time for the traditional balls in Vienna to allow more leeway<br />
with the clothes?<br />
No, because I think that the dress-code gives enough leeway<br />
and that glamour often goes hand in hand with the length of the<br />
dress. I like seeing people wear couture at these kinds of events.<br />
And as for the men, they‘re happy and thankful for clear<br />
guidelines.<br />
You often use style elements from the 1950s in your<br />
designs – what do you find so fascinating about this period?<br />
I really love the sophisticated cuts, such as the feminine and<br />
highly flattering hourglass silhouette. Emphasising the waist<br />
highlights a woman‘s advantages perfectly.<br />
Your latest summer collection pays tribute to the Provence<br />
– do you travel a lot to trace very unusual, colourful fabrics<br />
for your collections?<br />
Not really. When I do travel, then I usually visit the textile<br />
museums and museums of popular art to find out more about<br />
the traditions and specific national costumes. I can dwell on a<br />
subject for weeks and months on end and immerse myself in<br />
books, Pinterest etc…<br />
What kind of styling touches are you going to add to your<br />
gown on that summer evening?<br />
I certainly need to wear beautiful, antique jewellery when I go to<br />
an event like this. It‘s the ideal opportunity to think big.<br />
