Limiting factors to revegetation can be displayed
as unequal boards of a barrel. Water can
only be held to the level of most limiting factor.
This chapter is organized by limiting factors. It is not important to read the whole chapter, but
it can be helpful to read portions, especially those that pertain to a limiting factor identified
for a project. Each limiting factor section discusses how to assess or record the factor and how
to mitigate for it. Case Study 7.1 is an example of how the Limiting Factor Table can be used
as a checklist for identifying potential limitations to revegetation and developing mitigating
measures or treatments to overcome each limiting factor. Many of the mitigating measures
discussed in this section are presented in further detail in the Implementation Guides.
A process for developing the most appropriate set of mitigating measures into an integrated
revegetation strategy will be covered in Phase Four.
