Ms. Ha;;ar earned her bachelor;s degree in mechanical<br />

engineering from the American - niversity of ; eirut<br />

;A- ; ; in May 201; . She is currently a part-time<br />

research assistant at A- ; ;s Munib and Angela Masri<br />

Institute of Energy and Natural Resources. - nder the<br />

leadership of Dr. Nesreen ; haddar; she served as a<br />

mechanical engineering student representative on the<br />

institute;s Steering Committee ;May–September 201; ;<br />

for the ASHRAE International Conference on Efficient<br />

; uilding Design; Materials and H. AC ECuipment<br />

Technologies; which was held Sept. 22-2; in ; eirut.<br />

While pursuing her undergraduate degree; Ha;;ar<br />

was an intern at Khatib and Alami; where she worked<br />

as a site engineer performing on-site building inspections<br />

and as a design engineer on water treatment plant<br />

design ;;uly-August 201; ;; and at ; eneral Electric–Power and Water ;; eirut; in the<br />

power generation services–commercial gas turbine area ;;une–August 201; ;. At A- ;<br />

she was a volunteer writer for Outlook; the university;s official student newspaper; a<br />

secretarial assistant in the mechanical engineering department; an elected student representative<br />

for senior students at the faculty of engineering and architecture; and a<br />

research assistant with Dr. Issam Lakkis; working on reduced order modeling and<br />

simulation of the airways of the lungs; and species modeling.<br />

An ASME member; Ha;;ar got involved in Society activities during her sophomore<br />

year at A- ; . Initially a subcommittee member ;201; –1; ;; she subseCuently served as<br />

secretary ;201; –1; ; and vice chair ;201; –1; ; of the Student Section. As student regional<br />

chair for Africa and the Middle East ;201; –1; ;; Ha;;ar improved the outreach and communication<br />

among more than 20 universities in the region; this facilitated the formation<br />

or reactivation of Student Sections and enabled the sharing of best practices. While<br />

vice chair of the Student Section; she helped organize the Middle East Student Professional<br />

Development Conference hosted by A- ; in April 201; . One of the other ma;or<br />

events she helped organize was the industrial tour; where she and a dedicated team<br />

led ; 2 Student Section members on excursions in four European cities in ;anuary 201; .<br />

Since May 201; Ha;;ar has been serving on an ASME Task Force on increasing membership<br />

engagement for students and early career engineers.<br />

Among her honors; Ha;;ar received an International College Alumni Association<br />

Scholarship Award ;2012; and she made the A- ; faculty of engineering and architecture<br />

dean;s honor list ;fall 201; ; spring 201; ;.<br />
