After receiving his aerospace engineer degree from<br />

l;Espace ;Toulouse; ; rance; in 1; ; 1; Dr. Slotine came to<br />
the - .S. and earned his Ph.D. in estimation and control<br />
from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ;MIT;;<br />
Cambridge; in 1; ; ; . He ;oined the MIT faculty following<br />
one year with AT; T ; ell Laboratories ;Holmdel;<br />
N.;.;; where he worked in the computer research<br />
department.<br />
At MIT; Slotine is currently professor of mechanical<br />
engineering and information sciences; professor of<br />
brain and cognitive sciences; and director of the Nonlinear<br />
Systems Laboratory. He teaches and conducts<br />
research in the areas of dynamic systems; robotics; control<br />
theory; computational neuroscience and systems<br />
biology. Research in his laboratory has focused on the development of rigorous; yet<br />
practica1; tools for nonlinear systems analysis and control; and has provided key<br />
advances and experimental demonstrations in the contexts of sliding control; adaptive<br />
nonlinear control; adaptive robotics; telepresence; machine learning and contraction<br />
analysis of nonlinear systems.<br />
Slotine has held invited professor positions at CollTge de ; rance; Paris; Ncole PolytechniCue<br />
;Palaiseau; ; rance;; Ncole Normale SupSrieure; Paris; - niversity of Rome;<br />
La Sapienza; and ETH 2 urich. He was a member of the ; rench National Science Council<br />

Singapore;s Agency for Science; Technology and Research ;A; STAR;. He is currently<br />

One of the most cited researchers in both systems science and robotics; Slotine has<br />
published more than ; 0 peer-reviewed archival ;ournal papers and over 100 conference<br />
papers. He co-authored two popular graduate textbooks; “Robot Analysis and<br />
