THE OLD ; - ARD EARL1 CAREER AWARD was established in 1; ; ; to help the<br />

young engineer bridge the gap between college and professional life. Its intent is to<br />

bring that individual closer to the activities of ASME by providing encouragement for<br />

graduating student members to upgrade to member and actively become involved in<br />

the work of the Society.<br />

Dr. Taylor earned his bachelor;s and master;s<br />

degrees in mechanical engineering from Drexel - niversity;<br />

Philadelphia; in 2010 and 201; ; respectively. He<br />

earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from<br />

Drexel in September 201; after defending his dissertation<br />

on microsecond spark discharge as a source of<br />

compression and its application to Stirling cryogenic<br />

coolers. He is a lecturer in engineering sciences at the<br />

Harvard ;ohn A. Paulson School of Engineering and<br />

Applied Sciences ;Cambridge; Mass.;.<br />

Taylor has been researching electric plasma applications<br />

for the last seven years. Supported by a ; ulbright<br />

research fellowship from the - nited States Department<br />

of State; Taylor spent 10 months of 201; -1; in Seoul;<br />

South Korea; doing research on the treatment of skin<br />

cancer cells using an atmospheric pressure electric plasma ;et.<br />

During the 201; -1; academic year; Taylor was an instructor at Rowan - niversity<br />

;; lassboro; N.;.;. In addition to teaching freshman and sophomore engineering clinic<br />

courses; he served as faculty co-advisor of the ASME Student Section at Rowan. Prior<br />

to teaching at Rowan; he taught in various capacities at Drexel for five years.<br />

An ASME member; Taylor has been active in the Society since his sophomore year.<br />

He served as Planning Committee chair for the Philadelphia Early Career ; orum<br />

;200; –0; ;; and treasurer ;200; –0; ; and chair ;200; –10; of Student Section at Drexel.<br />

He was a member of the Student and Early Career Development Sector Council<br />

;2012–1; ;. He has been serving on the Philadelphia Section Executive Committee and<br />

on the Human Powered . ehicle Challenge ;HP. C; Committee since 2010. Since 201;<br />

he has been head ;udge for HP. C–India; and as of 201; he is chair of the HP. C Committee.<br />

Taylor received the Charles T. Main Student Leadership Award ;; old; in 2010;<br />

second place honors in the 2011 Arthur L. Williston paper competition; and the<br />

Academic Advisor of the 1 ear Award from the Philadelphia Section in 201; .<br />

Among his other honors; Taylor received a grant ;2011; from the Pennsylvania Space<br />

; rant Consortium and freshman design teaching fellowships ;2012; 201; ; from Drexel<br />

- niversity;s College of Engineering.<br />
