Sciacovelli earned his master;s degree in mechanical engineering and his Ph.D. in
energy engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 200; and 2010; respectively.
Dr. . erda is a professor in the energy department at
Politecnico di Torino; Italy; where he teaches thermodynamics
and heat transfer; advanced thermodynamics
and energy conversion at the graduate level. He is also
the coordinator for two European pro;ects in the energy
department;s research group and coordinator for the
department;s Student Mobility Program.
His research covers a number of different areas of
thermodynamics and heat transfer including thermoeconomic
analysis and diagnosis of energy conversion
systems; analysis and optimization of district heating
networks; thermal energy storage systems and fuel
cells; and multiscale modeling of fire events in tunnels;
buildings and forests.
. erda has authored; co-authored more than 100
papers that have been published in international ;ournals or presented at conferences;
and two textbooks. He is associate editor of !n/!1C and the !n!/!na!39nal !9!!nal 90
&2/!!9.Cna!3-!.
An ASME member; . erda has served on the Advanced Energy Systems Division;s
Executive Committee and is now chair ;201; –1; ;. He is an associate editor of the !9!!nal
90 !l/-!!9-2/!3-al !n/!1C !9n!/!!39n an. !!9!a1/. In 200; he was co-recipient of the
Society;s Edward ; . Obert Award.
. erda earned his bachelor;s and master;s degrees in mechanical engineering
from Politecnico di Torino in 1; ; ; . He earned his Ph.D. in energy engineering from
Politecnico and the - niversity of 2 aragoza; Spain; in 2001. He is a professional
engineer in Italy.
