Intelligent interface technology
takes over the coordination of the
individual modules as well as the
connection to the superordinate
corporate IT. All movements and
positions of the belts, gates and
transfer systems are constantly
monitored electronically. The snack
manufacturers also benefit from this
flexibility, as the SCA series of
Hastamat demonstrates. The plants
pack one of the most popular
snacks ever: stacked crisps. So that
as many of the delicious, yet fragile
crisps make their way to the
consumer undamaged, the SCA
series also takes care of the
volumetric and gravimetric dosing in
a way that is gentle on the
products. The crisps are
automatically taken out of the
production, turned over, aligned in a
uniform manner, gathered up and
passed on to the filling system
where they are sealed in aromaproof
tins or trays. The number of
lines can be flexibly chosen.
Whether packing snacks or
wrapping sweets in foil – what
awaits the producers at ProSweets
Cologne are optionally expandable
systems, which ensure format
changes within the shortest space
of time. Hereby, the trade fair
covers the entire spectrum of semiautomatic
or simple automatic initial
solutions through to multistage,
complex system solutions.
Good prospects for the 47th ISM
ISM, the world’s largest trade fair
for sweets and snacks, is setting
course for its 47th edition and the
signs are very good. Around 1,600
exhibitors from approx. 65 countries
are once again awaited, including
top companies as well as smaller
and medium-sized companies.
Furthermore, industry newcomers,
who are daring to take the plunge
on the big trade fair stage, will be
presenting their products and
services in the Newcomer Area. The
supporting programme is providing
further highlights with the New
Product Showcase, the Expert
Stage and the Cologne Coffee
Forum.
Coffee and other hot drinks like tea
and cocoa drinks have been a fixed
part of ISM’s offering since 2015.
They are not only considered to be a
perfect companion to chocolate and
biscuits, they also enhance the
range of exhibits of ISM in an ideal
way. In addition to the interested
visitors from the retail trade and
out-of-home market, the expansion
of the offerings especially opens up
new perspectives for buyers from
sales channels: cafés,
confectioners, bakeries and cake
shops as well as from the
specialised sweets and coffee trade.
Coffee
Coffee is receiving its
own anchor point in
the environment of
chocolate and biscuits
in the form of the
‘Cologne Coffee Forum’
The theme ‘coffee’ has developed
its own dynamics over the past
years. ‘Coffee to go’ is one of the
outstanding successful concepts in
the out-of-home market. Numerous
‘coffee concepts’ – from the
traditional coffee house and café,
through to the specialised espresso
bar and trendy roastery – have
picked up on and successfully
further developed the trend towards
the black bean. These also
encompass the expansion of the
offer to include chocolate and
biscuit specialities. The attractive
combination also works the other
way round: confectioners and
specialised sweet shops
successfully integrate selected
ranges of coffee, tea and cocoa.
Sweets, biscuits and hot drinks also
share great proximity in the food
retail trade, where they are often
presented on neighbouring shelves
and in adjacent product
presentations.
Cologne Coffee Forum
Coffee is receiving its own anchor
point in the environment of
chocolate and biscuits in the form of
the ‘Cologne Coffee Forum’.
Important representatives of the
Italian coffee culture have
been won over, namely the
Italian associations IAAC,
the International Institute
of Coffee Tasters, and
INEI, the Instituto
Nazionale Espresso
Italiano. Hence,
among others the
central
sampling bar
is focusing
on different
roasts of Italian
espresso,
presentation forms and
taste nuances. Information
events and workshops convey
profound knowledge on the ‘black
gold’. Furthermore, for the first time
the German Roasting Guild is
exhibiting together with several
German roasteries in the Cologne
Coffee Forum.
The Cologne Coffee Forum is being
staged in Hall 5.2. In addition to
sampling sessions, the emphasis of
the offering is also on direct contact
with the exhibitors.
ISM Expert Stage
A further information hotspot of
ISM’s supporting programme is the
ISM Expert Stage, where the
market researchers of
Innova Market Insight
will once again be
holding their trend
lectures. Further partners
are the online news
platform, Confectionery
News.Com and the EFH
– the Institute for Trade
Research, Cologne. The
following themes are the
focal point here: sweets
and snacks trends,
consumer trends and
types as well as
eCommerce in the daily
business. n
