processing & packaging
machines had 20 years ago. And
we’re still moving forward.”
Cleaning has never been easier
thanks to the unique hinged lining
that simplifies access to the
channels and interior without the
need for hoisting or supporting
equipment. With the correct tools,
the machine is ready for cleaning
in just five minutes. All joints in the
processing areas are fully welded
and rounded, and all surfaces are
inclined to prevent puddles. The
drive zone and processing zone are
fully separated, virtually
eliminating the risk of
contamination between zones. It’s
the first (and at present, only)
industrial grinder to receive DGUV
approval, Europe’s highest safety
and hygiene standard.
Setting the standard for
standardisation
Because the GEA PowerGrind is
available with PLC control, it can
be integrated into an automated
line, which opens the door to
incorporating continuous fat
analysis. This enables
standardisation. In combination
with, for example, the GEA ProMix
twin-shaft mixer (see panel above)
and GEA’s real-time fat analysis,
fat percentages can be kept very
close to agreed specifications.
Willem continues,
“Standardisation
prevents costly lean
meat being given away.
And it provides the
means to verify the
quality of incoming raw
materials. The potential
cost savings are
considerable. And because
GEA’s meat treatment machines
are able to communicate with each
other in a line, they provide the
flexibility to automate processes in
a cost-effective way.” In addition
to the grinders, mixers and fat
analysers, GEA’s range includes
emulsifiers, ultra-fast ColdSteam
defrosting solutions and
transport/loading systems that
can be combined in smart meat
treatment lines.
We. Grind. Everything.
It’s bold to say ‘we grind
everything’. And with a GEA
PowerGrind it’s true: there’s no
need for another type of grinder.
Both the 200 and 280 can grind
frozen meat blocks, and the 280
makes ground meat of even the
largest plate frozen blocks used in
the industry. So it’s time to meet
the family:
Because the GEA
PowerGrind is
available with PLC
control, it can be
integrated into an
automated line, which
opens the door to
incorporating
continuous fat analysis
About GEA
GEA is one of the
largest suppliers
for the food
processing industry
and a wide range
of
process
industries that
generated
consolidated revenues of
approximately €4.6bn in 2015. As
an international technology group,
the Company focuses on process
technology and components for
GEA ProMix
GEA’s meat treatment
equipment is a big family.
Another new member is the
GEA ProMix mixer. This is a
twin-shaft mixer for products
like hamburger patties,
meatballs, luncheon meat and
ground sausages, and for premixing
for wiener and
frankfurter emulsions. The high
peripheral adjustable wing
speed gives good protein
extraction, uniform distribution
of additives and effective salt
activation. Like the new
grinders, the GEA ProMix
features better hygiene, safer
operation and a more modular
set-up. It’s also PLC controlled.
It’s available as a standard and
as a vacuum mixer, and in a
ColdSteam M configuration for
extremely fast defrosting of preground
frozen meat.
sophisticated
production processes
in various end-user
markets. The Group
generates more than
70% of its revenue in
the food sector
that enjoys longterm
sustainable
growth. As of
March 31, 2016,
the Company
employed over
17,000 people
worldwide. GEA
is a market and
technology
leader in its
business areas. The
Company is listed in
Germany’s MDAX (G1A, WKN
660 200). In addition, GEA’s share
is a constituent of the MSCI
Global Sustainability Indexes. n
