INTRODUCTION<br />
August is our busiest show as it covers the important promotional period’s - mid-season<br />
sales, Black Friday, Christmas and the vital January sale.<br />
Housewares trading has been patchy to say the least – one week we are up, the next<br />
week we are down. Many things have affected this – an early Easter, poor weather<br />
until recently and of course the EU referendum. We hear daily of the problems that will<br />
ensue the result of the referendum. However, there are many long term benefits. It is<br />
a case of your glass being full or half empty. We cannot change the result but we must<br />
be positive and consider the glass to be half full. Brexit has not affected this show as<br />
far as prices are concerned - we negotiated the majority pre-Brexit. Currency issues<br />
will remain for a period and suppliers who are buying dollars will be increasing prices<br />
until the dollar stabilises. So now is the time for you to come along and benefit from<br />
the many offers we have available.<br />
We have negotiated extra OATS show discounts from even more suppliers – a list can<br />
be found on page 3 & 4 - these discounts can really boost your margins. So remember<br />
to count your basic stocks before you attend the show, you will be amazed at the extra<br />
margin you can make.<br />
We know we do have members in close proximity to each other, so we have ensured<br />
that we have plenty of Drive Line offers, Christmas Cracker offers and Black Friday<br />
offers for everyone. We also have plenty of new products and new suppliers.<br />
Demonstrations will be carried out throughout the show, with another exciting feature<br />
– the Nespresso Café area in tandem with Groupe Seb. Nespresso will have two coffee<br />
ambassadors at the show. We know that this is a growth area and we need to really<br />
use and learn from this facility.<br />
Finally, we are using this show to launch LAV glassware through AIS Trading. The<br />
range consists of on trend products at better than ever prices. Please refer to page 93<br />
for full details.<br />
