Labour saving design extended
on high speed bagging machines

Two of the first machines
in a new range of high
output baggers are
being introduced on the UK
market at this year’s PPMA
Show by Italian manufacturer
PFM. Both are based on a
special labour saving design,
pioneered by PFM to give
automatic film alignment
and tracking on its R700
intermittent motion machine.
The RC600 continuous
motion version and the
RD550 twin tube machine
are typically able to produce
stand-up bags, including the
PFM Steelo four-side-seal
design, at speeds of up to
80 a minute.
“The new R-Series machines
represent a milestone in bagger
operation,” says PFM sales
and operations director Chris
Bolton. “By automating film
reel set-up, one of the most
difficult and time-consuming
tasks for operators has been
eliminated.

FASTER CHANGEOVER
“It cuts changeover time
substantially and virtually
eliminates film often wasted
as operators get film edges
into alignment, particularly
important for stand-up
four-side-seal bags which
are becoming increasingly
popular,” he says.
In addition, PFM is showing
the latest version of its entrylevel
Pearl servo driven flow
wrapper, for smaller or start-up
operations in the food and
bakery industry, examples of
multi-head weighers and also
the Scirocco high speed MAP
flow wrapper.
This is equipped with
extended dwell time sealing
jaws for hermetic sealing
in modified atmosphere
packaging at speeds up to
250 packs a minute.
