PPMA Show Preview
Robotic wrapping system can
meet current market demand
Bradman Lake will
demonstrate the
VBR2000 vision guided
robotic system connected to
the FT120 flow wrapper at
the show. The system offers
increased flexibility, efficiency
and profitability as well as
reduced labour costs.
The system is built with an
open architecture using
‘off the shelf’ components and
is billed as simple to operate
and easy to set up new product
formats via the intuitive HMI
screens. Using Delta robots
with Rockwell Automation
servo motion control, products
will be placed into the infeed
of the FT120 flow wrapper, but
the products can also be placed
into either a top or end load
carton management system.
A smart camera that
integrates into the Rockwell
Automation ContolLogix
‘PAC’ via add on instructions
is included in the robotic
system. This allows for fast
and simple teaching of the
machine for new products,
giving greater flexibility to the
user. The same smart camera
can also be used to recognise
out of spec product that can be
rejected. The single ‘PAC’ unit
controls robot movement and
pick strategy, product tracking
and placement.
The FT120 flow wrapper
is well established and a fully
automatic machine, equipped
with servo driven paper feed,
automatic reel to reel splicing,
pack tucking and end crimp

no crimp and softjaws.
Bradman Lake says the
non-sprung end crimp ensures
high integrity repeatable
sealing even on difficult
applications.
In operation, the system
can be set-up with a single
point of access with remote
connectivity for online fault
diagnostics and Rockwell
Automation’s ‘FactoryTalk
Analytics’ for system data
collection.
FactoryTalk
ViewPoint is
utilised for the local
connectivity to
link each machine,
providing system
control and performance
data locally at each of the
machines HMIs. Meanwhile,
FactoryTalk Analytics is
utilised for the remote
connectivity to transmit real
time data remotely to a secure
machine cloud.
This provides real time
machine and system data that
can be viewed remotely from
anywhere around the globe.

Pouch filling and sealing is an
affordable and flexible option
Intamac Packaging Systems
will be demonstrating the
latest in affordable, efficient
pre-made pouch fill-seal
technology which has just
been installed in the UK.
This IPS-8BT machine
can fill and seal premade
pouches using a variety of
options at speeds of up to 25
packs a minute. It is the newest
machine in the range which
also includes the IPS-1BT for
low volumes through to the
‘duplex’ machine for high
speed applications. Vertical
baggers are also available.
The IPS-8BT is suitable for
powders, granules, liquids
and pastes and has been
designed as an affordable
option for food businesses as
well as contract packers.

start-ups and expanding
businesses to grow without the
need for substantial financial
