PPMA Show Preview
Bringing imagination
to reality with sensors
Sensors & Instrumentation
will take place in Hall 1 at
the NEC Birmingham on
the 26 and 27 September 2017
– the first and second days
of the PPMA Show which is
taking place in Hall 5.
Organiser of the UK’s
only national sensors event
Datateam Business Media
predicts that the larger venue
and introduction of fresh,
interactive elements to bring
technologies to life will
contribute to this year’s show
being the biggest and best
exhibition to date.
This idea is reflected by
headline sponsor Mouser
Electronics, a leading
authorised distributor of
semiconductors and electrical
components for over 600
manufacturers. “Mouser’s role
is to make new technologies
available for designers to base
their latest projects on,” says
vice president of marketing
in Europe, the Middle East
and Africa, Graham Maggs.
“That’s why we believe that a
focused event such as Sensors
& Instrumentation – with
a full seminar programme
and lively exhibition floor –
is needed by a wide variety
of industries, and we are
pleased to be involved.”
To celebrate the show’s
new location in Hall 1
– conveniently located at
the NEC’s main entrance –
doors will be opening at the
earlier time of 9am and the
first 200 visitors before 10am
on each day will be treated
to a free early bird breakfast,
sponsored by Keller.
Also, Sensors &
Instrumentation 2017 marks
the debut of two brand new
feature areas; Connecting
Industry LIVE and also the
Drone Zone.
Connecting Industry LIVE
will forge a
link between
visitors and
technology
innovators,
encouraging
discussions
on how to
improve
operational
efficiency,
productivity
and
profitability.
At the heart of the event will
be the Live Demo Stage,
where exhibitors will carry
out technical demonstrations
to help with end users’
The theme for this year’s event is ‘connectivity’, says organiser Datateam
The Drone Zone is new to the show
understanding of the products
and their applications.
Sensors & Instrumentation
will take visitors to new
heights in the Drone Zone
feature area. Presentations
from key individuals and
organisations, selected for
their expertise in drone
technology and industrial
applications, will explore the
benefits of unmanned aerial
vehicles within industry and
the obstacles that may be
faced during implementation.
Visitors will
also be able
to watch
technical flight
demonstrations
and have the
chance to put
themselves
in the pilot’s
seat through a
virtual reality
headset.
Returning
for this year’s
exhibition is the Innovation
Showcase sponsored by
Bronkhorst, providing a
snapshot of the range of
developments on show at the
exhibition, the PR Electronics
Formula 1 car simulator
and Micro Nano Mems, a
specialised pavilion covering
the full spectrum of small
and ultra-precision process
technologies.
With over 80 exhibitors
already confirmed, visitors
will be able to see the latest
products, technology and
solutions in test, measurement
and control all under one roof.
Visitors are invited to
register online at:
Be inspired
to learn with
new seminars
The ever-popular CPD accredited
seminar programme returns
for this year’s show and is
shaping up to be one of the most
successful to date, with a range of
contemporary topics and issues
being discussed by prominent
industry experts including:
Emerson, GAMBICA, IST AG,
National Instruments,
National Physical Laboratory,
Sensor City, TechniMeasure and
Thingstream.
Sebastian Amos, head of
process, instrumentation &
control at GAMBICA, will follow
the impact of instrumentation
in the first three industrial
revolutions and examine how
the instrumentation industry
is engaging in a world of digital
data and forensic analytics to
meet the challenges presented
as we enter the ‘fourth industrial
revolution’.
INTERNET OF THINGS
Neil Hamilton, vice president
of business development at
Thingstream, will delve into the
hot topic of the moment; the
Internet of Things (IoT).
With the increasing prominence
of IoT solutions in business,
Hamilton will explore the
importance of sensors to this
$25bn industry with a view to
give kudos and margin to sensor
manufacturers who often place
themselves on the edge of the
ecosystem when they should,
he will argue, be the driving force.
Event director Kathryn
Ambrose believes that the
exemplary line-up of exhibitors
along with the vibrant feature
areas and seminar programme
at this year’s show offers even
more value to visitors’ experience.
“The theme of Sensors
& Instrumentation 2017 is
‘connectivity’ and for anyone
seriously interested in sensor
technology and instrumentation,
this year’s exhibition is
unmissable,” she says.
