Berko İlaç included sustainability in its strategies
Aiming to contribute to human health with the vision of “ For Healthy
Tomorrows”, which is more than 30 years old, Berko İlaç includes its
sustainability studies in its corporate strategies, based on the idea that
this vision is linked to the sustainable future.
Addressing the concept of sustainability with its environmental,
economic and social dimensions, Berko İlaç actively uses social
media with the content it prepares, reaches domestic and external
stakeholders and organizes informative seminars for company
employees.
The first step was taken in the office
Berko İlaç, determined with the savings methods that it has put into
practice in the office, made the first step about the environmental
dimension, set the saving criteria and acted for the systematic
use of office resources. Work began in the office to reduce paper
consumption, reduce electricity and water use, direct employees’
recycling, and raise awareness among employees.
Internal and external stakeholders included
160 informative panels to create awareness among employees Berko
İlaç Head Office and Production Facilities positioned the sinks,
electrical switches and printers. The use of recycling boxes for paper,
glass, plastic and metal wastes on the office floors was encouraged.
Seventy conscious e-mails were sent to employees, and trainings
were organized. A total of 300 employees were included in the project.
A total of 80 social media messages were shared with followers via
corporate social media accounts, 500 trees were planted together
with external stakeholders, and 500 seeds were distributed to external
stakeholders. Thus external stakeholders were also included in the
project.
Social dimension of sustainability studies
As part of the social dimension of sustainability studies, Berko İlaç
meets children at Berko Children’s Theater free of charge on three
occasions. The Berko Children’s Theater project was deservedly
awarded in the category of “culture and art” under the “International
Corporate Social Responsibility Award (ICSR)” organized by Junior
Chamber International (JCI), in which projects consistent with the
United Nations sustainable development goals are valued first.
2018 targets
Berko İlaç aims to reduce the consumption of office paper, electricity
and water by 10% between the targets of the year 2018, joining the
“Green Office Program” of the WWF - Turkey Natural Life Protection
Foundation, which will start with the head office and continue to
include production facilities and regional directorates and get “Green
Office Certificate”.
