Last Year’s Game:
- Virginia’s Joe Reed returning the opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, giving the Cavaliers a quick 7-0
lead. It was the second time in three years that Navy began the Military Bowl by allowing a kickoff return for a
touchdown.
- Navy QB Malcolm Perry led the Midshipmen’s response, rushing 16 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns
as Navy quickly regained the lead. Backup QB Zach Abey took over when Perry was injured and the Midshipmen
didn’t miss a beat. Abey finished with 88 yards rushing and five touchdowns.
